In this fable, the peripeteia arises when the Dog is crossing a plank over the river. She looks down and sees her reflection, thinking it is another dog carrying a piece of meat, she drops her own meat and lunges for the water. She was hoping to grab an extra bite of food but instead she was left with nothing.
The anagnorisis occurs when the Dog sees the meat in her reflection and is filled with greed. Her eyes are blinded to what she already had by the overwhelming want for what someone else possessed.
The Dog’s pathos happens when her meat is carried away by the river and her reflection’s meat disappears. She is left with a good lesson but nothing to satisfy her hunger.
